Dehumidification Process of Dry Room in the Garments Industry

The dehumidification process is a critical step in the garment business for maintaining product quality and guaranteeing a pleasant working environment for employees. Dehumidification entails taking out extra moisture from the air in order to keep the relative humidity at the correct level.

The purpose of this document is to describe the standard procedure for the Dehumidification process and to ensure that garments have standard moisture when packed. High humidity increases moisture in the air, so garments moisture increases. High moisture in garments grows mold or increases the chance of growing mold.

Dehumidification Process of Dry Room in Garments Industry

Dry Room Set-up

  1. Ensure calibration of Aqua Boy machine as per standard.
  2. Check stands/trolleys for keeping garments in dehumidifying/dry room.
  3. Check the packing plan with the finishing Manager.
  4. Check shipment schedules.
  5. Ensure the moisture test instrument is calibrated as per standards.

Receipt of garments in the packing section

  1. Collect metal pass garments from the finishing section.
  2. Store the garments for one hour as per the Metal detection policy.
  3. Check the lot for moisture and make a report as per standard format.
  4. If moisture is less than 65%, send the lot for the packing process.
  5. If posture is more than 65%, send garments to the dry room

Dry room process of Dry Room

  1. All garments with a moisture content of more than 65% should be kept in to dry room for 1 hour.
  2. Garments should be hung on hangers
  3. Keep the hangers on the rack
  4. Do not store garments more than machine capacity.
  5. Maintain dry room humidity level of 50%- 55%
  6. Maintain records in a standard format
  7. After completing the one-hour check Moisture content for 20 garments randomly. Note the start time and end time for each lot.
  8. If the moisture content is less than 65% send it to a dehumidification room else keep in the dry room till the time the moisture content drops and reaches the permissible standard.

Dehumidification Process

  1. After the Dry room transfer acceptable garments to De-Humidifying Room.
  2. Garments should be hung on hangers
  3. Keep the hangers on the rack
  4. Do not store garments more than machine capacity.
  5. Do not sore tight, maintain space between individual garments.
  6. Maintain a humidity level of 50%- 55%
  7. Maintain records in a standard format
  8. After 1/2 Hour, Check 20 Garments Randomly
  9. If the moisture content is not within the standard range, keep the lot in the dehumidification room till the time the moisture reaches the standard range.
  10. If the moisture content is less than the standard range dispatch the lot to the packing section for the next operation
  11. Maintain moisture content measurement record
  12. Maintain dehumidification start and end records for each lot
